Why Cook with Cast Iron?


Cast iron cooking might seem to be a cooking craze, but it has endured the centuries for a reason. There are many benefits of cast iron cooking.

One of these benefits is that iron is infused into the dish while cooking. This will benefit people with low red blood cells or simply anyone who does not eat a lot of red meat. There is not a lot of iron though that is infused, so it is not exactly the same as taking an iron supplement.

Cast iron pans are easy to clean. Simply sprinkle with sea salt and oil and wipe until the surface is exfoliated. Taking time to maintain the pan the proper way will ensure that one gets all the full benefits from the pan. Washing the pan in soap and water can actually damage the surface of the pan and prevent it from getting clean. It seems counter intuitive, but it might actually ruin the pan.
